The reason they have red X's on them is because both of the connections i have are disabled. Choose the ATA instead of AHCI on the SATA configuration.. I don't have a windows disk, only Microsoft Windows Recovery Console installed. And that's a SP2 disk (i think). useful source

My BSOD was during the windows xp install, it would get to the part where the bottom of the screen would say preparing to install windows then dead. Hope this helps someone. Also, just to make sure it wasn't the cable that was broken... there are newer and much better ones to go with.

I'll try that as soon as i get time...
