How can I bring back the desktop and do anyone have any other suggestions. And everything that should have been there was selected. So I tried fix 4 again and rebooted and signed in. Then I right clicked on the taskbar, clicked properties, start menu, customize, advanced. I had the screen and a cursor. Decided to bring it back… And then it worked… I guess the Start Menu and the Search tool are tied together.. They suggested I un install all my adobe apps, like Dreamweaver, InDesign etc,they said Windows 10 can't handle these apps, and that's what the problem is.

This may not work if "PC SETTINGS" is bunged up by the same problem that is causing the START button to not work. Ccleaner It's not a big deal as the Shutdown and Restart batch files do what I need. I opened a command prompt with admin priviledges, navigated to the folder mentioned in eventLog and renamed all the log files in the folder (including edb.log).
