Solved: New HP 45 Black Cartridge Won't Print

I've tried cleaning the bottom plate area with some alcohol but still no ink flow. Make sure the water is on full blast. Yea, right. Nada.

Thanks Kevin and everyone. You just saved me from buying a new printer. Any ideas? OOOPPS!!!!In all reality if someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!!!!

How can I get rid of that message and use the cheaper ink cartridges that are not HP's? It is telling me that the yellow ink is about to expire (if I understand correctly), so why the hell I cannot use it any more? I tried all the methods suggested by HP on their website( drivers, clean cartridge head etc. ), but no luck. I haven't even tried fixing my "new" cartridge yet, but the old one works like a charm.Has anyone noticed that when you use the HP utility to align your cartridge, the

Last night, I decided to try the suggestion again of removing the cartridges, unplugging the printer, then plugging it back in again. It was indeed a clog and I followed your directions to the letter and it now prints black too! I have 4, yes FOUR, ink cartridges I had gone through, all of which are technically out of date, and thought they were toast, or the printer was. Nope, not me!

When I first encountered the rip-off, I went to the HP site to find out what was going on. I now can print with black in.

Thanks for the tip. Several years ago I had the pink printing problem with the color cartridge and because of the problem I chose to print only using the black print cartridge. I am so happy! We typically print 40-50 pages per day using black ink only. 9 weeks after installing all new cartridges the machine says they are all running out at roughly the same time.
