I called Geek Squad they were no help. The advice about not downloading too much if at all is spot on as well. Well, after arriving back home in Wisconsin, I installed the Windows 7 upgrade (and its updates) and all went well.
Matt talked extensively to me about solutions and advised to look into upgrading my modem and router at home. Yup, 2 trojan viruses and 17 malwares.
The issue is exactly the same for all being locked out after 3 seconds at the logo screen trying to install with either USB or DVD... When files are deleted, the do not "disappear". I have had my friend completely clean my disk drive and now all my photos I had are gone. I've had to perform this task for friends and family that lost data. You are not dealing with just anybody, you are dealing directly with the owner. Gratefully, this included family photos of sentimental value that I thought I'd lost forever.
This is the reason...the entire hard drive is formatted...aka...erased.
